SEEKOEIVLEI ACCESS:

The western side of the reserve is now open .Roads are in a reasonable condition but vehicles with a high road clearance are recommended. Keys to the reserve can be obtained from Memelgetaways now situated at 28 Voortrekker str, on the eastern side of Memel Hotel

No overnight , day visitor facilities or camp  facilities are currently available

The building of the visitor facilities, on the eastern side of Seekoeivlei Nature Reserve, is still in progress resulting in the closure of access to this side of the vlei.

 If you are planning to visit the reserve please contact the Getaways Information Centre on 058 924 0400

Visitors are requested to please observe the following:

  1. Please observe the rules and conservation ethics of this reserve and drive on the road.
  2. It is recommended that only 4x4 or high road clearance vehicles are used on the western side of the reserve. Normal passenger vehicles will not be able to negotiate all the obstacles in the road.

Memelgetaways can advise visitors of other good spots for wetland birding, which are accessible from the perimeter road to the reserve.

                                                            MAHEM FESTIVAL

The Date for the Mahem Festival has been fixed and will take place on 26th and 27th March. This promises to be a really great event and long term weather forecast looks excellent.Come and enjoy yourselves. Further details will follow soon

SPEED HUMPS

The installation of a series of speed humps in the main street has been approved and will take place as soon as possible. This will hopefully encourage drivers to stop at the four way stops and drive down the main street in a sane manner. Thank you mr Mayor Chris and Joe. When When When?
